Today, engine oils are used to lubricate internal combustion engines. Oils can be very diverse - differing in the composition of their base oils and their additives, if possible, work at different temperatures.

Modern engine oils meet many requirements for non-corrosive effects, durability, stability and compatibility. But the more complex the substance used by a person, the more guesses, rumors, and even myths it is surrounded by.

If the oil has darkened, it must be changed urgently. There is an opinion that the darkened engine oil should be changed regardless of the distance traveled. In fact, there is no cause for concern. In modern fuels and lubricants, darkening is due to detergents, which dissolve the products of incomplete combustion of fuel. This keeps the engine clean and is protected from various contaminants with the help of oil.

The time to change the oil can be determined by eye. In this situation, there is no need to come up with complex schemes when there is a simple one. After all, all the necessary time intervals for working with oils are already described in the operating manual. Each oil manufacturer can work in its own way for a long time, so only the documentation will help you figure it out.

There is no difference in the vehicle, the oil change time is the same for everyone. This statement is incorrect. Even for passenger cars, the oil change schedule changes according to the brand. For some, these intervals are fixed, while for others they are already more flexible and depend on the manufacturer. Commercial transport - trailers, trucks should be considered taking into account the intensity of operation.

There is no need to constantly change the oil. If the oil is not changed at the right time, then the price for this inattention can be very high. Deposits will begin to form much faster in engines. This will lead to poor lubrication of the parts, which, in turn, will accelerate engine wear. In the worst case, it is worth talking about a serious breakdown and expensive engine repairs.

The best oils are those that are expensive. When choosing an engine oil, first of all, you should pay attention not to its cost, but to the manufacturer's recommendations and instructions for this tool. The purchase of an elite product that does not meet the given requirements may even turn out to be harmful to the engine. Bad manifestations from the use of high-quality, expensive, but foreign oil will seem much faster than using a cheap analogue, which, however, is within tolerance.

Mineral oil in operation is not worse than synthetic. Experts more and more often recommend paying attention to synthetics, because they serve much longer for cars. The intervals between services in the service are getting much longer. The main advantages of synthetic oil are known - it can work at both high and low temperatures. In the cold, such a lubricant remains viscous, and even in the heat it does not lose its properties. But mineral oil oxidizes much faster, which reduces its service life.

Older cars work better with mineral oils. When synthetic oils first went on sale, many motorists found oil stains under the car. In fact, when synthetics get into the engine, which previously worked only on mineral oil, active washing out of dirt between the oil seal and the shaft begins. A gap is formed between the shaft and the seal, through which new oil will begin to flow.

You can mix different oils, there is nothing wrong with the car. It is not recommended to mix oils of different viscosity levels. This will reduce the efficiency of the tool, and ultimately the engine. There are also extreme stories when the engine needs oil, but there is no way to buy the usual one. Only then is it allowed to mix a couple of different types. But it should be remembered that the oil should be changed at the first opportunity, returning to the proven option.

It is better to abandon the multigrade oil in favor of seasonal options. Today, more and more manufacturers are focusing the attention of motorists on multigrade oils. They help the engine to start even in cold weather, and in the operating mode, the lubrication of a warm engine is effective.

The quality of the oil can only be checked in special diagnostic centers. There is a simple technique that allows you to check the suitability of fuels and lubricants at home. To do this, take a dipstick with oil and drip it onto a dry newspaper. If the oil dissolves quickly and leaves behind a few greasy circles, then this indicates its normal quality. If a steady drop is observed on paper, then the oil should be changed to a new one as soon as possible.

The oil will perform better with additives. Almost all manufacturers claim that third-party additives in such a lubricant can adversely affect the quality of engine operation. Any engine oil is formulated so that the balance and ratio of the additive package are ideal. If you add third-party additives to the product, then this will disrupt the planned mode of operation.

Before changing the oil, you must first fill in the flushing analogue. Modern oils are made so that there is virtually no need for flushing oil. Even a simple engine oil contains all the necessary additives that purify and flush out. And flushing oils can be recommended only when the engine is already very dirty. You can also use this technique, but shorten the oil change interval.

The properties of energy saving motor oil are better than that of conventional motor oil. It is believed that the presence of an energy saving option will slightly reduce fuel consumption. However, such a difference will not even be felt. The very same energy-saving oil is suitable only for internal combustion engines.

The energy saving option will cut fuel consumption just a little, you won't even feel the difference. The oil itself with this attachment is suitable only for internal combustion engines specially adapted for filling low-viscosity oils. This is a very serious limitation, which not all engines comply with. Energy oils have an additional set of additives that reduce frictional energy loss, which ensures their viscosity.

For diesel vehicles, the oil should be changed more often. For cars with a diesel engine, there is an important criterion that must be taken into account when changing the oil. It's about the quality of the diesel fuel. If it complies with Euro standards, then there is no need to change the oil frequently. Another important characteristic is the operation of the machine, its conditions and features.

For vehicles with diesel engines, special oils should be used that are specifically designed for these types of engines. Motor oils should not be divided into diesel and gasoline. This is the main myth about such lubricants and has long been debunked. Oils are divided depending on the type of vehicles - for trucks and cars. Depending on the type of vehicle, there are markings on the packaging. Oils differ in viscosity, additives and base oils. And the classification is based on the difference in engine design and operating conditions.
